Spray Drift

Accurate management of the application of agrichemicals is critically important to the horticultural sector.  One of the major issues with spray application is that it can drift.  The level of drift can potentially impact on neighbouring properties.

 

Consultancy links closely with the research which aims to address some of the issues surrounding multiple spray events from a number of sites in the local community.  The main aspects are:

  • Development of spatial information platforms – GIS mapping of all property and hazard information
  • Modelling of spray generation (chemical available for drift)
  • Development of models to predict drift and estimate off-site deposition
  • Use of new in-spray markers to track spray as a research tool
